Have you been to an audition for the different groups and do not get the gig? The musicians are very critical of other musicians to play, although probably not to be brutally honest about what they see and hear. We do not want to hurt your feelings we are saying something nice and never call back. I auditioned many musicians, many who have never had a memory. Here are some of the most important audience - made errors musicians while listening to one of my groups:
1) Competition - can you take?
I have experience of many of the boys thought they could play, but could not keep time or do not know what the chord changes are underway, but lost in every song - I could not keep up musically.
2) Listening - Are you paying attention?
I played with some very talented musicians who have paid absolutely no attention to what was happening around them. It was as if they had spent years to practice in their room. They could play it very well, but they have played in every direction within the band. The notes you play to complement what everyone does, and the song will serve as a whole.
3) personality - Are you a good person?
This is a big deal - I've played some exhibitions of great players who live their life in a sentence or two in front of a football. Remember when you were a kid and people told you "if you have nothing good to say, say nothing." I met many great musicians who have a desperate need to return to this notion. They were so full of negativity, it was really hard to be in the same room with them for a long time.
