How To Succeed In The Music World. Part 1

So you want to be a star?

Part 1

So I have decided! You have finished recording their album and that is "better" - deserves to be heard by the world that are worthy of the adulation given to the creation of a masterpiece! Of course, you know in your mind that will not be easy to become a star. After all, everyone said the music business is difficult. But hey, you have what it takes, you have talent, and it's really a great album - all your friends and family agree - so what can possibly stop them? What is ...?

Few people outside the music industry have an idea of how difficult it is to survive, let alone succeed in the changing world and relentless entertainment. Being a musician is much more than just writing, recording and performing.

And few have any idea what is involved in CD recording sounds good, the time and effort to get that polished sound that every artist who has never made a demo aims to create.

Do not be fooled by the stupid garbage like American Idol or X-Factor. Not only do these programs give a totally false impression of the reality of the music industry, but completely undermine the integrity of it! And just for the record, I do not dispute the obvious talent of some of the participants, but the end justifies the means! It is indicative of the weakness that have sunk as a society we are happy to watch and laugh, "expects" are clear that not all talents, ridicule, and that is embarrassing really think they have talent.

Then, when the competition proper really happening, we can see the music world do what it does best is to chew and spit out varying degrees of talent live on our screens in the name of Entertainment Television!

The programs are designed to maximize TV ratings and manufacture a "Pop Star" will be long forgotten in 10 years. Sure, they say that it is not so, but as they were, they would not!?

We live in an "Instant Fame" of society. Celebrities and their lifestyles are thrust in our faces 24 / 7 and far too many people, especially but not exclusively young people think that fame can be achieved. They fed the belief that it is possible to abandon the day job and become a star. In reality, it is virtually impossible. For a better understanding of the realities of Pop, see the book of Simon Cowell "I do not want to be rude."

As a musician, an artist, a vocation. It is a lifestyle, where everyone and everything, absolutely everything, and everyone else second. Musicians are selfish - they are, by definition, and I know because I was one.

This is a "trip" (as in life) - a journey of self-discovery, which begins when you realize that there is a musician, you want to do, continue and develop when your music and make new friends along the way The experience ups and downs, culminating with the understanding that mobile There is no end, because you always want to do something new, always forging new ideas - to write the "perfect song" or "perfect album, but a word of warning, if you're lucky to find the success of the pressures and demands will be better, they get less.!

You can not do it on a "part time" and expects to succeed beyond a bit of fun at the amateur level (not that there's anything wrong with that). So if you really want to "pass", just that you have to accept is ... you probably wont! And it's not as crazy as it sounds!

You see, the most important thing in music is simply that you love to do. It is a lifestyle that is in your blood, your soul, and it takes precedence over everything else. And as mentioned earlier is about the journey.

Now I can hear you say things like "It's good to tell you, you're in the music business."

Or maybe you're thinking: "Well, I have all these attributes, but how I can pay bills and continue my journey as a musician"

Yes, I had the good fortune to be involved in music, enjoying moderate success and recognition of a certain genre of music. But what I learned is that success is relative.

My life and everything in my life revolves around music. But over the years, especially in the early days, my private life and finances paid a high price.

Being involved in music is to be there for the long term, not short term - you do not even consider the short term. Ask most musicians, and they will tell you that the process is a painful process. When I hear young musicians say they have "given up everything to be in music," my answer is that they have no idea what 'everything'!

Being a musician requires many things, many attributes. Selfishness already mentioned. Stubbornness is a key factor - just follow, then there is the dedication, passion and conviction. The assumption that there will be many difficult moments. You must be willing to give everything and more, yet even with all these things, if you're in the wrong place at the right time, success can still do without.

And despite all, keep smiling. Not a question of why you do what you do or the cost in broken relationships and debt. To keep going because music is such a big part of you!

The only requirement for a musician is a partner of understanding and support - without which you have no chance whatsoever. Reminds me of an old joke: What do you call a musician without a significant partner and positive? Homeless!

So finally, what is the difference between a musician and a person who wants to be a musician? It 's easy. Musician is a person who has to do with it. They step outside the box of conventional 9-5 and all goes with it and live your life and all that entails. Probably did not do great, but they define their own success and what will happen, they never forget why they do what they do.

And a person who wants to be a musician, a star? Well, they are capable of doing the above!

So, back to the beginning - if you still want to be a musician, an artist, so I'll give you some tips and advice on demonstrations in Part 2.
